The edges have been heat treated to help keep them from fuzzing up. You can cut the chain with a pair of scissors to desired length. I chose this length because you or your child can get the necklace on & off over their/your head without worrying about the clasp. They can also hold the necklace in their hands while they wear it, making it fun for them to touch & feel it. As you can imagine, a lot of TLC went into making these cute felt necklaces!
